・ Center for Higher Education Development and Initiatives

Objective

The Center for Higher Education Development and Initiatives will continuously verify and improve the contents, methods, systems, etc. of education at the university and improve the educational ability and quality of the university.
In addition, the Center aims to promote internationalization of education and promotion of social contribution by planning, developing, and managing educational systems such as bachelor's education and graduate education at the University and utilizing social learning space etc.

Activity

The Center for Higher Education Development and Initiatives promotes the work listed in the following items.
   ・Studies on research/investigation on higher education measures etc.
   ・Supporting educational reform and educational improvement in undergraduate
    and graduate.
   ・About education-related IR.
   ・Research, development and planning related to education system in general.
   ・Study, development and planning related to the contents of education, education
    method and evaluation method.
   ・Research, development and planning related to instructional improvement
    (including FD).
   ・Planning, management and implementation concerning social contribution of
    education.
   ・Management concerning social learning space.
   ・Living guidance and advice to international students.
   ・Other things concerning matters that the Director of the Center deems
    necessary.


・ Center for Liberal Arts and Language Education

Objective

The Center for Liberal Arts and Language Education will conduct the planning, management and operation of the liberal arts that trains literacy necessary for modern society, broad knowledge and rich intelligence and sensitivity, and also the common education of the university which is necessary for specialized education.
In addition to promoting practical education, the center plays a leading role in the planning, implementation, evaluation and improvement of foreign language education suitable for the university and Japanese/Japanese culture education corresponding to foreign students at various levels.

The Center for Liberal Arts and Language Education promotes the work listed in the following items.

   ・Planning, development and proposal of practical education.

・ Admissions Center

Objective

Admission Center will publicize about the educational research, learning environment, entrance examination information, etc. in order to accept enrollees who conform to the admission policy of our university.
The Center cooperates with each faculty/department to promote improvement and smooth implementation of entrance examination tasks, and also conducts surveys, research and implementation concerning high school-university connection and admissions reforms.

Activity

Admission Center promotes the work listed in the following items.
   ・Planning and implementation related to selection of enrolled students.
   ・Research and study on the selection method for enrolled students.
   ・Provision of admission information and university introduction information, etc.
   ・Provision of information concerning recruitment of students such as university
    disclosure briefing sessions, out-of-school briefing sessions, etc.
   ・Supervision of preparation of entrance exam questions.
   ・Inspections, etc. on entrance examination to prevent mistakes in entrance
    examination.
   ・Things concerning National Center Test for University Admissions (like the ACT
    and SAT in America).
   ・Surveys, research and implementation concerning high school-university
    connection and admissions reforms.
   ・Other things concerning matters that the Director of the Center deems
    necessary.


・ Center for Student Support

Objective

Center for Student Support supports academic study and university life from the entrance to the graduation of the student, and performs comprehensive support for extracurricular activities, finding employment activities, etc.
The Center conducts surveys and studies to enhance student life, and aims to improve support systems such as individual consultation, support for student voluntary activities, holding of seminars, etc. according to student needs. Furthermore, in collaboration with undergraduate and graduate departments, etc., the Center cultivates necessary abilities and attitudes towards social and occupational independence of students.

   ・Economic support and student life support for students.
   ・Student consultation.
   ・Support for study of students with disabilities.
   ・Research on development and implementation of career education.
   ・Support for extracurricular activities, finding employment activities, etc.

   ・Counseling on careers and employment for students and post doctors.
   ・Support for internship.
   ・Support for qualification acquisition of students.
   ・Cooperation and coordination with on-campus and off-campus employment
    related organizations.
   ・Collecting and providing information on companies etc. to students and post
    doctors.
   ・Research, analyzes and statistics on career and employment of students and post
    doctors.
   ・Operation and management of employment support system.
   ・Other things concerning career development and employment support for
    students and post doctors.
   ・Other things concerning matters that the Director of the Center deems
    necessary.


・ L-café

Through social learning, L-café has been a place for students to enhance their multi-cultural understanding at Okayama University since 2013. The students who come to L-café are from all over the world, and thus all have different backgrounds and experiences to share with their peers in a free and relaxed environment. L-café aims to give students a space to be themselves and expand their knowledge of the world around them at the same time. It's a place to have fun, learn, and thrive.
L-café not only provides an opportunity to interact with fellow students, but with the community as well. These event opportunities provide international and Japanese students alike with the chance to share cultural exchange and communicate openly with people from other places.
The ability to experience cross-cultural communication, study language through a natural and social environment, and have fun at the same time, greatly contributes to the internationalization of Okayama University.
