外国語教育部門の目的と業務　

目的

　外国語教育部門は、外国語教育、多様なレベルの外国人留学生に対応した日本語・日本文化教育の企画・実施・評価及びその改善の主導的役割を果たし、専門教育で行われている英語学習機会との連動を図ることを目的とします。

外国語教育部門　部門長挨拶

　外国語教育部門では、本学の学生の皆さんに、英語、日本語、ドイツ語、フランス語、中国語、韓国語など、さまざまな言語を学ぶ機会を提供しています。2025年度から、英語科目は全学共通科目から独立しましたが、部門は「英語教育系」「日本語教育系」「初修外国語教育系」の3つの系で構成される体制となりました。系ごとに専門は異なりますが、「学生の言語の学びを応援したい」という思いは同じです。私たちは、部門全体で協力しながら、すべての学生の学びを支えています。  

　また、言語の学びにとどまらず、「市民性」や「異文化理解」といったテーマにも取り組み、 多文化共生の時代にふさわしい広い視野と実践力を育むことを大切にしています。言語を学ぶことは、新しい世界に出会い自分自身を深めていくことでもあります。これからも、岡山大学で学ぶすべての学生の皆さんが、自分らしい学びを広げていけるようサポートしてまいります。

Message from the Head of the Center for Language Education

The Center for Language Education at Okayama University offers students opportunities to learn a variety of languages, including English, Japanese, German, French, Chinese, and Korean. From the 2025 academic year, English courses have become independent of the general education curriculum. Nonetheless, the Center continues to work together as one team covering three language areas: English Language Education, Japanese Language Education, and Introductory Foreign Language Education. Although we have our own specialisms, we all share the same goal—to support students in their language learning. Together, we aim to help students make the most of their studies and time at university.

We also promote values and competencies beyond language, such as civic awareness and intercultural understanding. These are important for developing the broad perspectives and practical skills needed to contribute to today’s diverse society. Learning a language is not just about words—it is about discovering new worlds and understanding yourself better. We support every student at Okayama University as they challenge themselves and grow on their personal learning journeys.
